Adoration Chapel

Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Call the rectory at 837-8214 if you wish to sign up as an adorer for an hour.


Bereavement and Support Group Ministry

This ministry offers compassion and caring for those who have lost a loved one.  The group meets on the second Thursday of the month in the Parish Center.  For more information call Janet Trahan at 837-3861 or Dianne Vasquez at 835-0540.


Boy Scout Troop 117

Boy Scout Troop 117 was established in 1955 and has a history of over 50 years of service to Metairie and the surrounding community.  Dedicated to the belief that "Scouting is for all boys", the troop is open to boys, ages 10 1/2 to 18 from all schools.  Troop 117 is dedicated to having fun, learning new things and opening an entire world of experience for our boys.  Our calendar and contact information can be found at http://t117metairie.org/.


Boy Scout Troop 269

Boy Scout Troop 269 was formed in 1964 with belief that scouting if fun with a purpose.  The goal of Troop 269 is to take boys and raise them into well rounded responsible young men by teaching reponsibility, organization, leadership and skills that will prepare them for their adult life.  Most of the scouts in this troop come from St. Christopher Parish but we are open to all boys.  Troop 269 is a very active troop.  We camp at least eight times a year that includes a week long summer camp.  Out activities are educational as well as fun.  We support the St. Christopher Parish and the community by doing many hours of service where our scouts learn the belief of helping others at all times.  For information on Troop 269 please contact Gerald Roser at (504) 885-4574.

 

Girl Scouts

Cantor

The St. Chrisopher Cantors plan the musical portion of the 4 p.m. Vigil Mass and the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass each week.  At Mass each cantor chants the Responsorial Psalm and Gospel Acclamation, and also leads the congregation in the singing of the other hymns and the service music.  All are welcome to join us at our weekly rehearsals at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in the church.


Circle of Friends
The Circle of Friends is an organization of parishioners (ladies and men) 50 years of age and older who meet once a month in the afternoon for a meeting and Bingo.  They also enjoy bus outings, luncheons, guest speakers and participate in Parish activities and charitable works.  The Circle of Friends is open to anyone over the age of 50, living in or out-of-Parish.


Extraordinary Ministers

Men and women of the parish who assist with the distribution of Holy Communion to the sick and shut-ins, and to parishioners at daily and weekend Masses.


Historian

The Parish Historian maintains St. Christopher the Martyr Parish history and seeks any additional information anyone may have.


Holy Name Society

The Holy Name Dociety is a spiritual organization which is 700 years old.  The Chapter at St. Christopher was founded in 1950 and their patron is Blessed John of Vercelli.  The members meet monthly with mass, breakfast meetings and continue to promote love, honor adn respect for the Name and Person of Jesus Christ.  They also assist in sponsoring the Radio Rosary Broadcast and hosts a radio broadcast once a month from St. Christopher.  The Holy Name Society is open to both men and women.  Parishioners may apply for membership by contacting one of the officers or the parish rectory.

 

Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus is a premier national, Catholic fraternal benefit society, dedicated to the principals of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.  The Knights provide Catholic men and their families opportunities for personal growth and fellowship through religious, educational and charitable activities, offering assistance to member families and the surrounding community.  St. Christopher Council #4508 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of the month in the Parish Center.  We enthusiasticallly invite all practicing Catholic men to join us.
